STILL MOUNTAIN Practitioners
Jia Gottlieb MD
Dr. Gottlieb brings a unique combination of skills to Still Mountain based on a wide breadth of training. After receiving his M.D. from Northwestern University in 1976, and completing family medicine residency at the Community Hospital of Sonoma County – one of the most respected programs in the country – Dr.Gottlieb earned Board Certification in 1980. Following this, he completed one-year of post-doctoral acupuncture training at some of Beijing 's most acclaimed hospitals of Traditional Chinese Medicine.
From an early age, he learned to bridge the diverse cultures of East and West with an Austrian father and Chinese mother. While his father schooled him in the logic of chess, his mother quietly imbued him with the intuitive ways of the East. Initially he was drawn to the precision of western science, which led to a bachelor's degree in physics from the University of Colorado. However, after completing his residency training in family medicine, his interests turned towards his Asian roots. He realized that while Western medicine excelled in diagnostics and pinpointing specific diseases, it lacked a clear understanding of wellness and healing. To explore these important areas, he cultivated a life-long practice of yoga and meditation, has a Black Belt in Aikido and Karate, and is a student of the bamboo flute . Among his patients he is known as a physician who authentically lives and breathes his philosophy of medicine.
Upon returning to Boulder, Colorado in 1984, Dr. Gottlieb established Still Mountain, where he provides patients a unique therapeutic approach based upon extensive training in both Western medicine and Asian healing arts.
